You get stuck in life when you’re living every day mindless to what’s going on around and within you. You’re unaware and not paying attention to what you do, what you say, what you want, and how you feel.
Here’s what you need to know. Mindlessness is not the same as stupidity (which is the inability to understand). It’s also not the same as ignorance (which is lacking awareness about something).
Mindlessness is living your life on autopilot, blind to the fact that your past is over-determining and calling the shots on your present.
How to Live Mindfully
Here’s the thing, if you want to get unstuck in life, you must make some changes. And all change requires a choice. But, if you’re oblivious to why you make the decisions you make and the impact those decisions have on your life, how can you possibly know the choices you need to make in order to change? (That’s a rhetorical question; the answer is, you can’t.)
Remember, if you’re living your life just doing what comes naturally like one big habit, you’re not hearing what life is telling about YOU. You’re missing valuable clues about why you are where you are in life.
Getting unstuck in life begins when you look beneath the surface of your thoughts, your beliefs, and your choices, uncovering the purpose and function of your behavior.
When you take the time to explore and examine why you do what you do honestly, you’ll be able to make better choices in life. You need to discover the why and how of your fear-based life. Avoid judgment or thinking that how you’ve lived up to the present moment is wrong or “bad.”
When you take responsibility for all that you’ve been and all that you did (or didn’t do), to get where you are now, you’ll learn that you repeated the past because you habitually carried it with you.
Remember, always honor the realities of your life because they brought you to where you are today.
